CS Energy Prepares To Step Up To SAP S/4HANA

Queensland energy supplier CS Energy has closed off its tender seeking an implementation partner to facilitate a technical upgrade from SAP ECC6.0 to the cloud-based S/4HANA system.

With support for ECC6.0 to be discontinued in 2027, the Brisbane-based energy retailer invited expressions of interest from “an SAP-recognised, Queensland-based (or at least Australian-based) implementation partner”.

According to tender documents, the project will include “establishing and migrating to a cloud hosting platform, transitioning from the legacy MaxDB database to the modern SAP HANA database, upgrading the SAP ECC6.0 application to SAP S/4HANA, and re-establishing integrations between ERP satellite systems and SAP.”

The company said the upgrade would mitigate ERP-related technology security and resiliency risks, “ensuring we remain on a vendor-supported platform and establishing a robust technology foundation to enhance our business capabilities.”

Additionally, CS Energy said successful tenderers may be pre-qualified for future projects and stages under its SAP/ERP Program of Work.

The Queensland-owned company provides electricity to predominantly commercial and industrial businesses from South-East Queensland to the Far North, and inland areas including Darling Downs and Mount Isa.

The planned upgrade continues the company’s strong ongoing relationship with SAP, which also includes utilising SAP SuccessFactors for a range of capabilities including talent, succession, performance, learning, reporting and recruitment.

The move follows another Queensland-based utility, transmission network service provider Powerlink Queensland, implementing new SAP systems to improve its climate and ESG reporting, in addition to previous rollouts of S/4HANA and SAP Analytics Cloud.
