SAP Introduces New Tools to Support AI-Driven Development
At SAP TechEd 2025, SAP SE announced updates aimed at integrating AI into the development process, providing developers with resources to build and automate more efficiently.
The updates include enhancements to SAP Build, expanded data connectivity through SAP Business Data Cloud, and new Joule Agents designed to streamline workflows. SAP also outlined plans to help 12 million people worldwide gain AI-related skills by 2030.
“SAP’s announcements today give developers the tools they need to deliver at the speed of AI,” said Muhammad Alam, member of the Executive Board of SAP SE. “Innovations across SAP’s unique flywheel of applications, data and AI put developers in the driver’s seat — where they belong.”
Developer Ecosystem Updates
SAP Build now offers additional options for developers to use familiar tools. Key updates include:
Local Model Context Protocol Servers for agentic development tools such as Cursor and Claude Code.
A Visual Studio Code extension for SAP Build, with plans to make it available on Open VSX Registry.
Integration plans between Joule Studio agents and n8n agents.
Developers can also create custom agents in Joule Studio that operate using SAP business data.
Data Integration Enhancements
SAP Business Data Cloud now supports broader connectivity with platforms including Snowflake, Databricks, and Google Cloud. A new SAP Snowflake solution extension enables flexibility in compute and storage while maintaining governance and business context. Additional features include:
Data product studio for converting raw data into reusable assets.
Expanded SAP HANA Cloud knowledge graph engine to automatically map relationships across data models.
AI Capabilities
SAP introduced SAP-RPT-1, its first enterprise relational foundation model, designed to predict business outcomes such as delivery delays or payment risks. Developers can access this capability in a free playground environment.
New AI assistants in Joule coordinate multiple agents across workflows, supporting automation in areas such as finance, supply chain, and HR. SAP also introduced agents for technical users, including tools for process analysis and workflow optimization.
SAP confirmed plans to expand AI training and certification programs through partnerships such as Coursera.
